Fails to filter, DD Box missing, Log file fails to load

Post by bwild@mts.net » Mon Jan 31, 2005 5:32 pm

Hello I’ve run into a couple of issues. First off the PC running the program is W2K the log file is IIS 5.

the log file was unrecognized - it took several attempts to have the file read.

The filter drop down fail to appear. When I first click into the field the Drop Down Box (DDB) does not show. I have to select then next field then return.

When I try to set the filter nothing changes in the report
Example under reports - browser I set filter=Browser include_in_File_only_once MSFrontpage no change so I tried setting the filter under the site tab no luck

When removing all the DLL I used the advance tab from the options, but I still receive dll in the reports.

You can review the report at the following web address
http://www.nightowl.myfileserver.com/wh ... etails.htm

Any help would be appreciated
Bob

But how did you finally turned it up?

Why do you need to filter Browser? Not that MSFrontpage is not Browser. What is your task here?

Bob

It's strange why it does not work. Normally you should remove .dll from Advanced tab. But you may also do it differently:
add new report filter:
file_ext not_equals .dll

You may send us your log file for testing.

I selected excel as the report output options auto-export to excel

yes you are correct the MSFP is not a browser, so i'm not sure why it is being reported with the browser category. We are using FP to build the site and IIS it tracks the uploads. so I was trying to remove MSFP from the equation

Will send to you the log file

Thanks Bob[/code]

Hi Bob,

So it's clear now.

By default option "Use incremental analysis" is ON. It means that ALA
creates cache files (located in Cache) directory. By default it is:
C:\Program Files\Advanced Log Analyzer\Cache

I made the same actions you did. So what was happened: I removed .dll
from the list of extensions.

Then I pressed Analyze button and ALA produced the same results.
Because the log file was not changed and it took the results from
cache file.

So what should you do:

Go to
C:\Program Files\Advanced Log Analyzer\Cache
and remove cache files.

During turning ALA (first few days): you may switch off "Use
incremental analysis". It means that ALA would not produce any cache
files.
Then after you setup the needed configuration you may switch ON "Use
incremental analysis". So ALA will analyze the log files much more
faster.
Kind regards,
