Batch replace with a different word for each text file

Post by ona » Wed Dec 06, 2006 3:10 pm

Hi,

I need to know if your tool can do this for me:

I have a folder containing 1,000 text files.
In each of these text files is a word I want
to replace with a different word. But I want
the word to be changed with a different word
for each text files everytime.

For example:

I want the tool to:

Search in text file 1 for --- replace with
"affordable shoes" --- "cheap shoes"

Search in text file 2 for --- replace with
"affordable shoes" --- "inexpensive shoes"

Search in text file 3 for --- replace with
"affordable shoes" --- "not expensive shoes"

In other words, all the 1,000 text files have
the same "affordable shoes", but I want each
appearance of the "affordable shoes" in each
text file to be replaced with a different
word I will specify for every text file.

Do you understand? If yes, can your tool do
this for me? If no, can you tell me of any
tool that can do this for me?

Expecting your reply.

This is possible with our software.
Use Replace operation with "Cyclic Replace from File" action.

I have tried but haven't been able to solve
this problem. Please can you give me a
step-by-step guide on how to implement
this.

NOTE -- I have hundreds of subscribers
that are ready to buy this product of yours
if it can really do this for me, because I
will recommend it to them.

So, please help me out with a step-by-step
guide on how I can:

find words in different files, eg:

file 1 - "affordable shoes" appears 3 times
file 2 - "affordable shoes" appears 3 times
file 3 - "affordable shoes" appears 3 times

And replace all of these independently with:

for file 1 replace with - "inexpensive shoes" - 3 times
for file 2 replace with - "not costly shoes" - 3 times
for file 3 replace with - "not expensive shoes" - 3 times

ETC

Expecting your reply.

Select folder where the files are located in Search Path.
Go to Replace tab.
Select Cyclic Replace from File action.
Put the following text into Text to Find:
affordable shoes

Put full path to your file with replace with text into Replace by Text
field. For example:
C:\Program Files\Advanced Find and Replace 3\backup\list.txt

Go to main menu - Action - Options - Replace
check "Make cycle on multiple files" option.

That's all. We will send you by private email configuration file that
will do the job.
