I'm trying to share my MDB file across the internet. Anyone knows how to that?
I need to share a folder, I think I need to install an FTP server? Can anyone help me?
Sharing MDB across the Internet
Re: Sharing MDB across the Internet
1.-Do you need to make it public for people to download ?
2.-Or do you need them to let say; run the software remotely and access the DB in real time ?
For option 1, yes can just upload your DB to any public server and share the address.
For option 2, you will need a VPN running on your local network (where your DB is stored and your software) that way the remote computer will log in to the VPN and will look like a locally networked computer and will be able to access the Shared Docs on your local network.
OR! many other ways depending on your current setup, if your running your software and DB on a single computer instead of having several machines networked, it may be easier....

Re: Sharing MDB across the Internet
Your ISP may have a VPN solution for you, for a fee of course, but they will provide with the hardware, software, config and support and of course the "security".
I know AT&T does, I use their VPN service called: "FastConnect" to login to my hotel PMS when I travel.
