Pole Display incident

Hello
I am using a bixolon samsung pole display, and have it configured using OPOS drivers, I use a usb to serial cable to connect it to my pc since it doesnt have a native serial port. The problem i have is that the pole message events only appear for a second , I would like for them to stay for about 5 seconds not dissapear imediately
