Searching PDFs

Post by J.Kannengiesser »

I think that someone already asked this ... but it's urgent:
is it possible to search in PDFs ?

Right now Adobe Acrobat Standard or Professional should be installed on your computer. It would not work with Adobe Acrobat Reader. So if Adobe Acrobat Standard or Professional are installed on your computer then in AFR go to menu Action - Options - Find and check "Find in PDF files" option.

I have both Adobe Acrobat Professional and Adobe Reader installed in my PC, I have selected to search PDF files by marking the associated box under Options, and I have entered "*.pdf" in the Mask field. Yet, my AFR software doesn't give accurate results when asked to search for a certain string in PDF files (it always gives a "Found 0 Files" result). I do need this feature to work. Could you, please, tell me what to do?

Thank you.

Why are Adobe products necessary? Will pdf searching be enabled if a competitor's product, such as Nuance's PDF Converter Professional is installed, or MUST I go with Adobe for this?
