My printer is printing all types of characters when i hit print bill. what could be doing this?

this never worked.. I have been cuttinng the paper with a blade. Now that i have hired somebody to work the register.I would like to resolve this issue.I don't want anyone injuring themselves with a deep slash squirting blood in front of customers.

receipt paper will not cut
TM T85 ... I can print but does not cut the paper..What is wrong? Can anyone help???
